with the changes in their social role, women’s position in the family has been improved as well. the husband is no longer the only economic provider of the family income and the wife is no longer economically dependent. the cope with the problems of daily life together, and share happiness and sadness with each other.

in spite of these changes, women still face many difficulties and obstacles due to traditional roles and limited economic strength. in addition to fighting against the old ideas, the effort should be made to awake women to the prejudice, and encourage women to build their independent careers and realize their full potential.

no doubt, women still have a long way to go in their struggle for complete equality with men.

Several years ago, my brother brought a small, thin and dirty dog back. It looked ugly and I didn't like it. My brother gave him the name "Jackie"。 Although he soon became the pet in the family, I felt indifferent about him. Unlike my brother, I never played with him, nor fed him. Instead, I shouted at him when I was scolded by Mother. He used to squat beside me when I was doing homework, but whenever I couldn't work out some problems, I would kick him away. This lasted for about two years. When I became a senior high school student, I often came back home very late in the evening. Jackie, who had grown stronger and bigger, became a necessary and good companion to me. He always waited for me somewhere on my way back home, and ran to me quickly at my calling"Jackie"。

He walked beside me like a faithful guard. I was moved by his generous love, and was ashamed of my cruel behavior towards him.

Help Children to Be Independent Thanks to the “family plan”policy,today in China many families have one child.Loving and caring for children is an old Chinese tradition that has remained for thousands of years.But the children are spoilt so much that they have less independence.They rely on their parents in everything.That is bad for a child's growing.Therefore,parents should develop the children's independence instead of doing everything for them.

There are some ways to help children to be independent.First of all,you should believe your children can do the things well.Second,give them more chances to practise,when they don't know how to do it,just tell them the way.Third,don't be afraid to see them fail.In the beginning,they may do something bad.But don't worry,just let them try again.They can do the work as well as you if given more time.
